Now, as I see it......

Dyrham Park

After a good breakfast we left Bath this morning for home. The place where we stayed was wonderful; beautifully decorated, lovely rooms, really friendly owner and the only B&B I've ever stayed in that had a bottle of champagne on the breakfast bar just in case you needed a Bucks Fizz for breakfast. If you're ever planning a stay in Bath I'd recommend it - details here: http://www.leightontownhouse.co.uk

We took a leisurely drive home through the Cotswolds stopping first at Dyrham Park, an interesting National Trust property, where I took this shot as we walked down to the house. We them aimed for Chedworth Roman Villa which has some amazing mosaics but being Fathers Day, had rather too many 'Roman Gladiators' putting children and their fathers through their paces for us to enjoy the site properly. Finally we stopped at Burford to visit a shop which specialises in artwork created in wood. We could be in the market for a really special one-off piece of furniture for our lounge once the work is all finished and we have previously seen here some beautiful 'organically shaped' cabinets and tables but there was little of interest; they seemed to have mainly small things; clocks, artworks, birds etc. We'll keep looking.

Plasterer tomorrow.
