Making Plans

I had a really clear plan for my blip today.  First thing this morning (although it was overcast) I headed off along Quendale Beach in search of yellow flag irises.  I found a few, took some pictures and, happy that I had my blip sorted, set off for a walk onto Garths Ness.

Lots of bird activity there, particularly arctic terns and oystercatchers, all very keen to chase me away from where they thought I shouldn't be.  Took some more pictures, decided I now had a better blip candidate.

Headed back to house to try and get the grass cut before the rain started - by the time I'd finished the likely rain had disappeared and some misty sunshine had turned up in it's place.  So, I decided that a quick trip to Sumburgh Head was in order.

The Sumburgh puffins were out in force.  I've visited Sumburgh Head a lot of times over the years (there's a nice fresh blog post about it) but I've never seen so many puffins on the west side of Sumburgh Head - and lots of them seemed to intent on getting 'final approach and landing' practice.  This seems to involve a lot of concentration.

So even though I've blipped several puffins already over the last couple of weeks, and I was planning something different for today - have another puffin.
