30 Days Wild Day 16 - Rabbit
The usual Saturday, prepping the Lodge for the next set of guests. At least it gave the chance of some different types of "wild shot". While I was working Clickychick spotted this little fella out of the window. Unlike her I had taken my camera into the Lodge and for once had the right lens on.
Recently I heard somewhere that the UK rabbit population was in decline, well our part of Cumbria seems to be bucking the trend. We have rabbits coming in our garden for the first time and the numbers round the Lodge seem to be increasing. This one can't have been more than a month or 6 weeks old.
Rabbits in their native range (the Iberian Peninsula and NW Africa) have seriously declined owing to myxomatosis & rabbit calicivirus. This in turn has lead to a decline in Iberian Lynx and Imperial Eagle, both very reliant on them as prey. The balance of nature is very precarious.
