Fishing

We had a lovely day hanging around at the Chateau today. It's been a busy few days and it was good not to have to be anywhere or do anything.
It was raining this morning so after getting our baguettes and pains au chcolat from the shop we all settled down to watch The Greatest Showman on Mr K's laptop (see extras). I hadn't seen it before and LOVED it!!!! A brilliant way to start the day.
The weather cleared up and the rest of the day was spent on the swings, in the pool and fishing.
Miss E has been so excited ever since she found out that the Chateau has a fishing pond and that you can buy fishing rods in the shop.
I had assumed that the fishing rods would be proper expensive grown up fishing rods so was trying to manage her expectations. She was giddy to discover that they were only a few Euros. Bamboo poles with line and hook.
Off we set with the rods and some stale baguette.
And swimming gear. Miss L decided she'd rather swim first.
The wily fish took the bread off the Miss E's hook on her first few attempts but she was undeterred and to our utter amazement she only went and caught one!!
It came as a shock to all of us - she freaked out a bit having a fish flopping around on the hook, Mr K did a passable impression of Bear Grylls getting it out of the water, onto the flagstones and - most impressive of all - off the hook.
Miss E was wailing about the blood, and hurting it, and it dying and hurry up Daddy and OH MY GOD IT"LL DIE!!!!!!!
I did feel for her - I don't think she'd thought about the reality of actually catching something. It's not like the crabs that you can just chuck back immediately.
Luckily Mr K released it pretty quickly and she released it back into the water.
And then was desperate to catch another!
After her swim Miss L joined in too. It would appear the Little Misses love fishing!!!
At 5pm we headed up to Courselles to take Archie to the vet for his check up and worming tablet. I got the girl at the Chateau to ring and make the appointment for us yesterday and it was lovely to find that they had Archie on record from last year. I love the fact he has a French vet - what an an international dog he is!
The vet was very dishy and he seemed to quite like Archie so it was a very pleasant visit!!
We stocked up on celeriac remoulade, semolina puddings and gluten free goodies  (as well as a new tray for the camper and more chicken flavoured crisps) from the Carrefour across the road from the vets and then headed to our favourite restaurant on our favourite beach for dinner - Le Charleston in St Aubin-sur-Mer
Miss L had her usual king prawns, Mr K and I had our usual beers, burger (him), Moules frites (me) and Miss E had her usual galette. We love it there!!
Then in the setting sun the Little Misses played on the beach - perfecting a dance routine (see extras)
