Royal Bank of Scotland Crest Shandwick Pl.

Now a Greggs, this was the Commercial Bank premises built in 1901. The crest reads DITAT SER[V]ATA FIDES, which is the motto of the Royal Bank of Scotland, who took over the building in 1938, when the ground floor was converted for their use. It was more recently a branch of the Abbey National, then a Santander branch for a few years. When Santander closed the branch a couple of years ago, Greggs moved here from their wee shop just up the road in Queensferry St.
