30 Days Wild Day 14 - Germander Speedwell

Thursday, my usual time spent with Kanyl.  Otherwise nothing particularly note worthy.

On my examination of things natural I took shots of things I have photographed before but not used during the challenge.  However I did spot a species I haven't seen during the challenge.  Germander Speedwell (Veronica chamaedrys).  

This little plant is widespread found in all habitats from Grassland through to open woodland.  In the 1700s it was popularly believed to be a cure for gout and was almost eradicated in the London area for making a "tea".  The name speedwell comes from the early belief that the plant brought good luck to travellers.

A common grassland weed it grew with such profusion on the side of the school field where I worked that at times the bank looked blue.
