Messing about on the river

These schoolchildren were having a rare old time time on the River Wey and so were their teachers. As they went further down the river one teacher started splashing them with his paddle. They must have got soaked.
We were watching them from Dapdune Wharf in Guildford, a well preserved former loading jetty and barge building site on the banks of The Wey Navigation. In the former workshops there were excellent displays charting the history of this formerly important part of Guildford.
I was there with our WI Camera Group, and the plan was to go on a boat ride up the river into Guildford town, but for the first time in six years the boatman was off sick! But we enjoyed our visit, and the cake was good!
