i was waiting to get a seagull in the shot but mr skaterg1rl thought that the blokes in the car nearest me might get out of their car and nick my camera.

ayr is a funny old place. lots of faded grandeur and probably the most threatening seafront i've come across in a long time.

by late afternoon the sun had given way to grey. the cars with souped up sound systems were pumping their pimped-up way along the road. sickly looking people with too much cheap cider inside them were weaving along the pavements. the
pair of police officers looked like they were heading for a busy night.

we ate our chips and kept our eyes down.

luckily we had spent the day with our visitor A at culzean castle basking in the sun on the beach while the kids went feral with a boy from school they'd bumped in to.

but we felt proud to show A some of scotland's high life before we retreated back to our west end shell.

(for those not from scotland, this is tonic wine. it's brewed by monks in devon and drunk by teenagers in scotland who are practising how to get drunk).
