Coming and Going
Day 6. As art lovers, we looked forward to visiting the great galleries of Paris and enjoyed every one of them totally EXCEPT for this one. The Louvre. Totally Awful. So big that it contained simply too many pictures to see. So popular with the tourists that it contained literally thousands of people, all shuffling along like a great herd of lost sheep. Utterly uncomfortable and horrible and the art wasn't any better. When you have seen one crucifixion scens you have seen them all. Ditto with scenes of torture, rape, arson etc supposedly based on Biblical Scripture but in fact nothing more than fanciful imaginations.
Of course we had to go there didn't we? The Mona Lisa and all that. We couldn't get closer than about 15metres to it due to the crush of people. The final straw came when people started posing in front of the picture so that their partners could take the mandatory snap with the phone of the compact.
We ran for our lives and went to the Pompidou instead. Modern art. Interesting concepts. Interesting people who obviously knew their art.
This shot is of a tiny section of the crowd in the lobby of the Louvre.
My eye is giving me more trouble. The side of my nose is tender and I am running a fever, alternating between shivering and boiling.
