Visited Locomotion on the way home from Durham. It is a sister museum to National railway Museum at York.

Next year is the 75th Anniversary of the Famous Nigel Gresley designed streamlined A4 Mallard breaking the world speed record for a steam loco.

The two feature locos are Dominion of Canada and Dwight Eisenhower that have been shipped over from museums in Canada and USA respectively. They are to undergo cosmetic (painting) refurbishment before going on display next year at York along with the four other remaining A4s. Sadly, these two no longer steam as does Mallard. The other remaining A4s Bittern, Union of South Africa and Sir Nigel Gresley are all in steam.
