These boots ain't made for walking
No, they're made for tiny babies! Had a bit of a problem with the cuff, which is knitted in a non-felting wool, and the pattern said to use the same size needles. Did this with the left-hand pair (with the blue cuffs) and it was a dis-as-ter. Any baby with a smidgeon of strength would have kicked them off in two seconds. I had to put shirring elastic in them. Not ideal - we'll have to see how the babe gets on - it's K's grandaughter, the one I made the sailor's jumper for.
Anyway, having taken advice from The Experts in our lovely local wool shop, I knitted the green cuffs in a different wool and much smaller needles. This pair is going on display in said shop, so I don't know whether any visiting babies will try them on and have an experimental kick!
