Time for roses.
This is the first flower on a rose I planted earlier this year. A gift from a friend for my 70th birthday in February.
I have several roses now, most of them gifts for various occasions. Birthdays, Anniversaries and for Remembrance.
They are flowering later in our garden this year as I waited before giving them the second pruning in March.
My dad grew roses and taught me how to prune them, feed them and spray them against aphids and diseases.
He used to give them a light pruning in November and then a more rigorous one in March.
I think of him, and mum, as he was a widower for 20 years after she died aged 70.
I and my sister were blessed with great parents.
