It's Like That (And That's The Way It Is)

My Dear Fellows & Dear Princess Normal,

So here's the thing. I have EMPOWERED Cazza, technologically-speaking. I showed her how to make her own playlists on Amazon Music and now she has gone bonkers with it. Up to now she relied on me for all her playlists and so I put together collections of songs that I thought she would like. This included:

- Stevie Nicks/Tom Petty
- Elton & Rod
- Melissa Etheridge/Pat Benatar/Heart
- The Rat Pack
- Reggae Sunsplash Ganja Pleasure Island Mix

She seemed happy enough with these, but I noted she was BEAVERING away on Amazon Music once I had explained how easy it was to her. And then I came home to find her bopping about the place to her "Old Skool Electric Boogaloo Hip-Hop Party" mix, featuring Salt n Pepa and Arrested Development*.

"Whoah there Spinderella!" I said. "What's going on here?"

"This is the sort of thing I used to listen to at school," she explained. "I'd put on my red bop pants and we'd put down cardboard so we could watch the cool kids breaking."

I understood this. Sort of. I remember thinking that The Real Roxanne was so cool at the age of 16. I mean look at her. Check out her hair and those pants. You can understand my feelings right?

But just as I was getting into that, Cazza moved on to her "Techno Saturday Night Party Groove" which included "What is Love?" by Haddaway, and "Mr. Vain" by Culture Beat. She started pulling shapes on the carpet and singing along.

I had not seen this side of her in YEARS. What have you done with my wife, Betty Boo??

However, it was fun to see her enjoying herself. Even if it was a little unnerving to realise I didn't know her musical taste at all.

But - whoomp. There it is.

S.

* The band, not the Bluths. Although I have been tempted to dance around the kitchen in a big flowy shirt with a knife between my teeth to The Final Countdown lately.
