Staredowns

Lisa made me go shopping this morning, and part of the afternoon. I finally went out to the water at about 3 p.m.

I thought I'd better go to the spots where I usually have good bird luck. Throw in a fish market, and a fish company...and that combination brings in the birds. A lot of shorebirds looking for handouts. The moochers are many.

I ended up having a lot of staredowns. Anywhere from 5 to 10 feet away. I say staredowns...how can you have a staredown when you have the camera covering your eyes?

Most of the birds are very territorial. "You come into my space...I'm going to get in your face." Makes for some good fight and flight shots...all of which I missed.

I put more staredown pictures on my Flickr page. The egret with the nasty beak was REALLY nasty. What a great day. Shopping and shorebirds.

This heron was right over my head. A dangerous place to be.

I back-blipped yesterday. We had trouble getting on the Internet last night. Click it into LARGE to see how you do in the staredown. I'll bet you lose.
