High Street Quiet
The town at lunchtime was very quiet. I had just come from a meeting where we had discussed the future of the High Street.
We have many, many tea rooms, hair salons, barbers and nail bars. Then there are a handful of independent clothing stores , a handful of charity stores, a couple of larger chains like Wetherspoons, M&S, Poundstretcher and Dorothy Perkins.
The book stores are long gone, so too the tobacconist, the fishmonger and the camera shop.
We’ve still got a cycle shop, a travel agent and a couple of butchers. We’ve still got two undertakers. For now, at least.
Our shopping habits are changing. So too must our High Street.
