Taken too soon

After work tonight I went to a memorial service for one of my ex-pupils. I didn’t teach her but she was in my school choir. She had a lifelong condition and so even as a young girl she had health battles. Tonight friends and family gathered to remember this vivacious, bubbly, witty girl.
I met up with a number of ex-pupils - they all recognised me and we had great fun reminiscing about school shows and singing competitions!! One girl claimed I was the reason she loved singing and was still singing in choirs! All in all it was a nostalgic evening. They say teaching is to touch a life forever. I have to say, it did feel a bit like that tonight! RIP K, you were a special girl, you will be missed.
