The Marigold Parade
Very warm for November, it was a perfect day for a parade. Kathryn and I walked along the parade route and watched the low-riders, bikers, floats and calaveras pass by. This was the annual celebration for the Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead in the souht valley of Albuquerque. Costumes and painted faces (calaveras) were everywhere among the marchers and the onlookers alike. There was a lot of politics, as usual. Many calaveras and floats carried signs asking people to vote, demanding personhood for women, LGBT rights and a higher minimum wage.
