A Bit of Public Fun...
.... on a public holiday, the Queen's Birthday.
This has been celebrated since the first white settlement, and along with Empire Day was a traditional day for fireworks displays.
I remember as a child we got a half day off school to make the street bonfire.
Well, the bonfires have gone, Empire Day has gone, and I doubt it will be long before the Queen's Birthday holiday will be gone, though perhaps not in my lifetime.
