The things you see on the motorway! 
Unfortunately I can no longer access Alice's magnificent memory to ask if we've ever seen a Tank, but en route to Sheffield we passed 2 carriages and the engine; then, by a weird coincidence the engine was passed by - - - "A Freight Train" wagon.

The last odd/unexpected thing I remember seeing on a Motorway was a HUGE helicopter trundling down the M6.

Just nipped back to observe that the train-carrier had an elderly Carlisle/Cumbrian  registration.
