Golden Glory
The title is partly inspired by my indulging in a bottle of beer that happens to be called 'Golden Glory'
This time of year is glorious for heading to the office. The sun rises as I leave my home, and as I get there the light falls golden on the unique stonework of Little Germany.
It's also the most frustrating time as I can but look out of the office window from the corner of my eye, as I see the sky turn purple and orange, as the sun sets without me, leaving darkness.
I'm enjoying the challenge of blipping in the darkness, or finding glory in the morning light when time is short before I need to work. It has definitely brought me much more focus and awareness to the changing conditions and pushing me outside of comfort zones.
Tonight on this glorious clear night there was a shot I wanted. I was trying to get the stars from the moor (the clearest night so far that I've seen since I've begun night photography), with distant bursts of fireworks turned into coloured streaks from the long exposures. In my head this photo was awesome!
But it didn't work out. I got some nice photo's of the stars but to get them in full glory I needed long exposure, which meant that while I got the fireworks, the nearby streetlights drowned them out. The photo's were just OK, but not want I wanted.
Instead of being disappointed, I actually felt OK about it. If it was easy it wouldn't be worth the effort and if you succeeded every time you'd get complacent and maybe bored. And I don't want to get bored! I think I know what to do next time, even if I have to wait until the next clear night in an early November!
Luckily I'd taken advantage of the morning light in the Cathedral Grounds that morning!
I really appreciate the hearts and stars and comments for yesterday's Mist Tree - thank you. As always I'm struggling with comments and thank you's but I'm trying.
