Good Mama
What an exciting morning! I had made plans to take a former colleague to my fav spot so she could see some wildlife up close and personal. How amazing that we both got to witness a little female Snapping Turtle laying her eggs. Incredible how she dug and then took a breather over the hole before she readied herself for laying some 30 odd eggs. Then she covered them up and needed some 'encouragement' to go the quickest route to the water. She unfortunately decided to lay beside a heavily used trail that is used for hiking and biking...and on the other side is a road for vehicles. I finally found a stick to gently guide her towards the pond. I am hoping my friend videotaped that part as halfway she tried snapping...but then relaxed and went on her way to safety once again. Nature is phenomenal! You can find a short video of her laying an egg here: Snapping Turtle (Blip is when she was entirely finished covering them and stood up to begin leaving)
Hope your day is going well, too : )))
