Southern Sculpted Pine Borer Beetle
More iridescent in large.
I pass right by this rather long beetle, until the sun flashed off of its back... It has a rather metallic look and its underside is copper or bronzed. A bit more attractive than I originally thought.
It took a while to identify it and now that I know what it is, I'm sorry we have them in our yard (full of pines). Though the adults are harmless to the trees, their larvae can cause damage. Oh well, at least I got an interesting blip out of him. :)
