Whitehaven highlights

We had to go to Whitehaven today so here is a bit of a 'puff' for it. The tall thing is called the candlestick (for obvious reasons) and is actually the chimney for a mine. Whitehaven had a mine which went a considerable distance under the sea. In the foreground the white wavy thing is a bit of the docks regeneration art work and just behind are the masts of a sailing ship. New York is said to be modelled on Whitehaven - they are both built on a grid system. I have to admit that New York is probably in better condition. I've never been there so don't know, I wont be going until there is a change of president either!
