Stories

There was a bag by one of my co-workers that said, "inspiration" so I stuck my head in it. My co-worker explained that the things in it were icebreakers. Then he offered me Einstein. I often walk past his desk and smile at this, I don't know if he knew or noticed or even why he offered it to me.

I showed another co-worker, who is new to the company, my workspace and told her the story behind my wind turbine. A vendor in Maputo showed me all his wonderful, colorful toys made of wires - bicycles and motorcycles with wheels that turned and brakes that stopped the turning, helicopters and airplanes whose blades moved when a lead was touched against a battery. I loved them, but I don't need more stuff, so I commissioned him to make me a wind turbine. With the magic of the internet and smart phones I pulled up a wind turbine to make sure he understood what I was asking for. He researched it on his own, because he created a completely different design. I asked for it to be packable, for example, the blades should come off. But I paid a very generous amount so to make it worthy...he made it huge! It barely fit in my luggage - but the blades came off! When he saw how overjoyed I was with it I was able to get a picture of him smiling with it and months later other vendors identified me as, "Jeremiah's friend."
