Blackford swans again
After coffee outside at the Lodge Cafe at the entrance to the Hermitage, K and I walked over to the pond to have another look at the swan family who were doing well. There was also a mallard family of Mum and six little ducklings. I do hope at least some of them survive - mallards don't seem to do well at Blackford Pond usually. No signs of nesting or chicks from the coots or moorhens. I haven't seen any little grebes so far, but they do seem to nest later. Still, it's great to have cygnets back at the pond after last year when there were none, and so far the new pair of swans are doing very well.
