My first time with the U3A ukulele group

Well here I am at my very first afternoon with the uUulele Group at The Rovers Athletic group. There were three newbies in with the old hands. My friend Jocelyn Bush and another guy whose name I forget in the excitement but who had previously played guitar so at least knew how to tune his uke.
It was a bit like my first day at school; a bit unfamiliar but we were quickly made to feel welcome.
It was the ukes first time using the Rovers as their new home so they were discussing acoustics and how best to place the chairs and they decided to have them closer together with the 3 newbies split up. Ahh not just like my first day at school but the first day of each term at college. We were allowed to choose our desks each term but the first thing the form teacher would do each term was to summons me out and move me to the front away from my friends. I believe I talked to much?
The time flew by and by the end I was beginning to relax a bit. We can't have acquitted ourselves too badly because we are all welcome to go back next week.
Sadly I will have to miss it because I'm off to a webmasters meeting in Portsmouth but I'll be back in a fortnight; hopefully with a few chords under my belt!
And now back to bellringing this evening...
