Granddaughter Graduates
I attended the public high school commencement for my granddaughter last evening. Youngsters in the arts, the sciences, foreign language and math were recognized for their achievements and over 400 graduates received diplomas. The most moving moments were the speech given by the accomplished daughter of Mexican immigrants, and a Mother who lost her son this year, and spoke eloquently in a voice choked with grief as she received his diploma. I felt proud of all the children, the teachers who brought them to this moment, the parents who supported them through their 12 years of education, and those of us who celebrated their moment with them.
