I think I only initially mounted my first front dynamo light above the wheel as I was keeping all the battery lights on the handlebars until I was sure everything would work, swiftly moving the light up when attaching it to the mudguard resulted in masses of wobble. I still don't trust fork crown mounts but it'll do for now, as long as I always carry a spanner and Allen key, seeing as the front rack to which I thought I could attach the light won't fit without getting in the way of the brake cable.
