Goat Lake
I have no idea why this lake is named after one of nature's most nimble creatures - maybe there used to be some up on that ridge. Anyway, my sister and I went for a wonderful hike today, and the reward was this beautiful alpine lake. It was about 9 miles RT and the trail was not difficult.
We walked by roaring Elliot Creek for about a mile (so loud I couldn't hear my sister, 3 feet away) and then on up for another couple of miles. Great waterfalls along the way! Then came back a slightly different way and got to enjoy some other waterfalls. Columbines were the flower of the day.
Really nice hike, about 2 hours drive from Seattle. I'm pretty pooped.
