Poppies at the field edge

I had to drive across the fen to collect a clock this morning. It was quite off the beaten track and it seemed another world.  However, it must be quintessentially English as South Holland topped the poll for people feeling English at 74%. I am one of the minority who feels themselves both English and European and a citizen of the world!  Perhaps not coincidentally this area also topped the polls for Brexit. After working in the shop in the morning, I returned to work at home and then took advantage of a beautiful fresh summer's afternoon and walked out across the fields.
