They're hatching!

We haven't had swans on the castle moat for a few years after the old male had to be put down. 

This year a new pair have arrived, built a nest and have been sitting on eggs for a few weeks. Needless to say I've been keeping an eye on the nest and this morning when I passed by I spotted that one chick had hatched and by this afternoon another one had joined it. Dad was sitting next to them as guard. I look forward to seeing how many cygnets they'll have and I'm sure that they'll have their progress recorded in my journal!

This evening I'm off to join friends to play along in a music session in a pub so another late night for me!!
