Rescue.
A super walk this morning, 5.5 miles. Thank you V for organising it and taking us around your childhood haunts.
We walked from Oakworth up towards Leeming and past the Reservoir there.
This part of the walk we had done before as it is part of the Bradford Millennium Way. There were two other parts of the walk that wer familiar too from other walks done vutmone wthing we have never done before is to walk up one of the water conduits!
These remarkable feats of engineering are dotted all over the Moor feeding the reservoirs. They are of varying widths and depth so definitely not all walkable but they never cease to amaze as to how much work and skill went into building them.
Crossing the Moor with Oxenhope in the Worth valley bottom, we could hear the steam train and see the plume of smoke above the station where the KWVR railway runs.
In the air we're lots of Culrlews with their distinctive cry but a big surprise was the finding of this Grouse chick on the path. It was quickly rescued by S, Wilsden Walker to prevent the dogs finding it.
I took this picture of it before she found it a sheltered spot on the edge of the path. Hope it's mum finds it!
We only had a few signs of sun on our walk but the sun is with us now so a bit of gardening is called for (better than ironing).
Thanks S for the blip op (not exactly a macro but tiny enough I think) and for the lift this morning.
