Council Crest

This city park, in Portland, sits up at 1,071 feet above sea level, about the highest point in town. There are plenty of great views of the city, and into the distance, but there isn't much you could make out in a small photo.
A lovely place with many happy, off-leash dogs who came trotting over to the fountain beneath this mother-son statue. They'd politely stand looking at the human-level faucet until you turned it on and splashed water down to them. Mostly a waste of water, but fun.
Just think, there used to be a trolley that ran clear up here. But all the trolleys in Portland were scrapped many years ago, giving way to the mighty automobile. Why can't we have both? Wouldn't it be fun to ride way up here with a sandwich wrapped in waxed paper and your elbow out an open window, a friend by your side or a book in hand!
