"Janus " In June
The Romans were great bathers and today at the obelisk the pigeons were to be seen bathing , preening , socializing and generally enjoying their life almost Roman style. This fortunate blip has a Roman twist as the positioning of the fine pair brought to mind Janus the God of beginnings, transitions , duality and endings. Depicted with two faces, one looking forward , one backwards he marks the New Year .We are fast approaching the Summer Solstice .Maybe this feathered duo sense it ..By the way ,Ancient Romans had feral pigeons Julius Caesar used them as message carriers in Gaul .
