Hairy Dragonfly

The Hairy Dragonfly - a new dragonfly record for Chailey Commons. When we were pond dipping last September we identified what appeared to be a Hairy Dragonfly nymph but nobody quite believed it as we had never recorded an adult. So I was delighted to spot this adult Hairy Dragonfly early this morning (you need to zoom in on the thorax to appreciate how hairy it is). Butterfly species count has moved on to 27 with the appearance of the first of the Meadow Browns.
