Bees flying around a flowering shrub

I spent the morning organising pictures of last weekend's wedding and have posted them off to the happy couple. Then I sorted a different day's shoot, and have them nearly ready for distribution. So by the afternoon I was feeling I'd achieved quite a lot.

Then I went to visit Helena at Frampton Mansell where she is staying to look after two dogs, Teazle and Tilly. Soon after I arrived and had been given a cup of tea, we set off for a short walk up to the nearby farmland to exercise the dogs. I think poor Tiilly had had enough walking before we had gone more than fifty yards and she seems to be suffering from serious joint problems, not surprisingly as she is getting on in years.

It was a lovely sunny afternoon at last so on our return we sat in the garden and Helena presented me with a delicious bowl of strawberries and some cream from the wonderfully named Woefuldane farm.

I had spotted that the shrub growing against the front wall of the house was buzzing with bees, sounding like it was an actual hive. I have tried to find the name of the plant and think it may be a Chaenomeles, a type of flowering thorny shrub.  I spent a few minutes before returning home poised with my camera and managed to snap this bee against the pretty blue sky. Helena will be back tomorrow  so Bomble and I won't be alone for long.
