The Rudolfinum

A lazy start to the day - we left the flat around 9 a.m. and got the Metro into town. We headed for the old town square, taking in a little (touristy) street market on the way (we didn’t buy any tat).

Wandering around the back streets it is amazing to see the the beautiful buildings with such fantastic colours and carvings. We stopped for coffee and pancakes in a tiny cafe - 4 5 tables - which was really nice.

We headed for the Jewish quarter, which in hindsight was a mistake as, being a Saturday, everything was closed.

We then headed back along the riverbank, passing this grand building - The Rudolfinum. It is the home of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra - and is used for major concerts.

We also stopped at a bookshop which our son had visited before. It sells English language books - and both he and Mrs madwill bought new books. It also has a cafe / beer garden so we sat in the garden with several beers and sandwiches whilst books were read.

We then headed back along the river to our apartment - tea and an afternoon nap were partaken of.

Will be off out later to celebrate our son’s birthday.
