Intense

Cut-leaved Crane's-bill is a very common species of disturbed ground and can be a prolific weed of arable crops. But when viewed closely, you can appreciate the beauty of its tiny flowers, which are only 12-18 mm in diameter. This plant had particularly intense pink flowers, which contrast beautifully with the bluish sepals. Geranium, the genus name, comes from the Greek noun geranos, meaning Crane (birds of the group of species known as the Gruidae). It is a reference to the beak-like fruit (seed capsule) which is reminiscent of the long beak of a Crane. Just as it sounds, the specific epithet dissectum means dissected, a reference to the deeply divided or cut leaves.
