Pimms in the sun

Daughter and husband went off to sort out stuff in the new house while we looked after Ella, Thomas and Nathaniel. They were quite tired after the late night of the sleepover so were happy to spend hours on their activity books.

My niece arrived for lunch, from Yorkshire, with her 2 boys aged 11 and 7. We all then headed to the woods. Callum decided as the children were all English, they’d take on the adults, all Scottish. So despite our best efforts, we Scots were over run by superior numbers and captured. We negotiated a release as it was a hot day, I had the water and snacks, and they needed sustenance. The English Knights, a noisy bunch with swords, were led by King Callum and Queen Ella, but the Scots apparently invaded over over the Wall of Hadrian. Then the English had a cunning plan. They transformed into Ninjagos. The end was nigh.

#3 daughter arrived back in time to see her cousin, The Ninjagos ate loads for tea, Mr C took a very tired Thomas home (he was asleep by the time they were out of the village) and then when the remaining two were in bed, we had a Pimms in the garden. I made us a tasty stuffed pepper dish for supper.

Phew tomorrow they go home to their new house, sans carpets, furniture etc. But they have mattresses to sleep on, and the decorators will be back next week, floor sanders too, so they’ll soon have space for furniture.
