Winged Extravaganza!
I visited the pond at work 3 times today!
I did my usual wander first thing. There wasn't much to see. It wasn't very sunny and not warm enough for insects. I didn't even see the moorhens and their chicks.
By lunchtime it was a completely different story. The pond was awash with Common Blue Damselfly pairs laying eggs on the pond. There were a couple of dragonfly species, including this one - a Broad-bodied Chaser. I even spotted a Large Red Damselfly ( see extra).
I made my last visit late afternoon, and an Emperor Dragonfly had appeared, along with a Banded Demoiselle.
I don't think I've ever seen as many species, in one place, in one day!
