If you go down to the woods today...
...don't be surprised if it is exceptionally, muddy, slippy, squelchy, squerchy, drippy and droppy. (Not to mention rather leafy.)
... don't be surprised if the sun goes in just as you get there and stays in until just about the time you leave. I walked up and took this photo from the road after we had left
Richard's got a cold that is affecting his chest and my back is hurting but we forced oursleves to enjoy a walk at the lovely Chapel Woods. More photos here: Chapel Woods 4th Nov 2012
This extended period of drippy grey weather and the shorter days are getting on my nerves. The few brief moments there was blue sky and sun reminded me just how much I'd missed them. But the wood was vibrant - even in the rain (well, maybe because of the rain!). The ground was a bright orange carpet of wet leaves - apart from the "footpath" which could be mistaken for a mudbath.
Someone/(some people?) are objecting to the solar farm proposed for farmland next to the wood and had tacked notices on the trees. These had all faded or blown away and what was left was a mess of rusty drawing pins, and ripped tatty plastic covers. Poor trees. :o(
Gemma is very sad today.
