Wild flowers
The wild flowers are looking lovely at the moment - especially along motorways and places you cannot stop to photograph them! When I was driving along to Heathrow the other day I thought there cannot be too many major airports in a major city that have sheep grazing on the side of the motorway and a profusion of poppies and daisies covering the grassy banks. I like the messy, wild look of these daisies amongst the grasses.
Last night's concert was excellent - Simon Rattle conducts without a score, he knows every bit of every movement of the music, and Bruckner's 9th Symphony is a big, meaty piece that cannot be easy to conduct. It was terrific!
Gavin has been involved in a day of pomp and circumstance - it is Corpus Christi today and that is the day the livery company of which he is a member choose to elect their new master and when the new liverymen are sworn it. He has had a long (and hot) day starting with the church service followed by a procession to lunch (led by policemen on horseback) and it ends tonight with a special dinner, where Thomas and I are joining him.
Adam has written 3 exams in 3 days, and has another tomorrow and on Saturday. He says no matter how much work you do you never do enough - he will be pleased when he finishes as they have been tough.
