How to “do” Hay Festival
We have had torrential rain. But “old hands” at the Festival know how to come equipped- the foldaway chair, the long mac, trendy yellow wellies, umbrella and a book.
Others, like myself were rooting around in second hand vintage shops on site to buy something warm. I picked up a big chunky sweater.
This evening we watched a (free but ticketed) preview of a forthcoming documentary on the life of Muriel Sparks which will be shown later in the year on television
It was brilliant. This was light relief after some very heavy events dealing with computational biology of the human heart and the need societies have to ritualise grief.
M opted for an event on whether plants communicate - they do but through chemical messengers.
Tomorrow we are taking a day off and going around some gardens.
