Yes and no new fad apparently but invented 70+ years ago for men who wanted extra grip while driving fast and beautiful Italian cars.
Leather or suede moccasins the rubber grommets on the soles extend up onto the heel and look very funky if a tad unusual.

I'm not a huge fan of the moccasin being more a Converse girl but hey a pair in red for the van might be just the go!
