Pickaxe and shovels

We decided to go for a walk today despite the strong winds. It was hard going and after two hours my husband suggested we make it into a circular walk and head across country. He suddenly realised that the symbols on the map indicated mining and that was why lorries were thundering past at regular intervals, not quite the peaceful scene we had invisaged. This is a shot of one of the vast mining areas, the colours were amazing.
