Veronica

One of my favourite plants at this time of the year. It's Veronica gentianoides, or gentian speedwell.  A spreading mat of shiny dark green leaves, which every year, produces more and more spikes of beautiful blue flowers.  It seems to like our heavy soil and partial shade!

A super sunny day, but I spent the morning working in the kitchen in the village hall!  Typical!  There was a two day craft fair and we opened the cafe to sell soup and puddings to raise money for the hall funds.  It did incredibly well, lots of stalls and lots of people buying and lunching in the cafe.  A great success, even though there were four crumbles - two of them rhubarb, one of them mine!  Nothing at all left at 4pm on day two!
