Poppies in the rain

Taken by the front door this afternoon.

We had rain for most of today but ventured into Villeneuve for lunch (which was huge) and meant we didn’t eat for the rest of the day. I had stewed turkey in green olives with a fantastic gravy and a hot mustard- I introduced my Dad to the vinegar self service contraption- about 20 types of vinegar to choose from so wonderful for a vinegar fiend like me!

Been interesting watching the French news this eve as things are getting heated after an undocumented refugee climbed 4 stories up a block of flats to save a 4 year old child who had been left home alone and was dangling off the side of the building. Amazing video to watch if you can find it.

The guy has now been granted citizenship and given a job as a fireman by the Macron. Watching TV tonight things felt very American and tabloidy for France sadly. Seems like the ‘hero’ is a nice bloke and as fit as a fiddle so a shame it’s getting marred and becoming a political football.

Enjoying reading my book by Laurie Penny- finally getting my head round the clash between feminism and transgender politics which is a good thing as I have to write a course on it shortly, thankfully I’m only co-presenting.

My brother contacted me to tell me he’s getting married. No further details yet.
