Death of democracy

I accidentally stepped on my specs but I managed to tiwst them back into shape witout breaking them. 
More importantly, yesterday a bright, clean, new government was five fingers dilated and ready to come into the world, complete with minsters, brilliant ideas and huge enthusiasm. Unfortunately financial markets are more powerful than democracy in Italy, so the President vetoed the finance minister and nominated a prime minister of his own chosing, who just happened to be a supporter of the politicians who failed in the elections, deliberately sabotaging the vote and intentions of the electorate.
So now democracy is dead, unless we can ressussitate it. Really, really bad.
