A rarity
Back to Sheskinmore today for a talk on entamology & a walk to look at what was to be seen. Apparently someone had come across the rare Dense-flowered orchid (Neotinea Maculata) , so here it is in "all its glory" one of two we saw.
According to a specialist orchid book, apparently commonly found in the Mediterranean region, apparently its presence in Ireland, in this case Donegal, indicates a terrestrial passage route between the two areas in the past.
A great day out in glorious sunshine, quite a rarity for us & lovely after the long winter we have had.
