A good day!
Mike brought Peridot up onto the beach and we were able to get the masts back up on her. We have a tried and tested way of doing it, and it worked a treat. So much easier when she isn't bobbing about on the water!
A glorious day, but a chilly breeze off the sea, and I needed my Nancy Blackett hat on to keep my ears warm, especially up on deck! Our bit of slip extends from the stones to the wall and down to low water, which is very handy when you have a boat . . . .
There is a strange old law in Orkney called Udal law which, as Charles Tait's puts in in his Orkney Guide Book, here, the ownership of the land extends "to the lowest Spring ebb, plus variously as far as a stone can be thrown, or a horse can be waded, or a salmon net can be thrown."!
The next thing is putting the sails on, but we need a bit less wind for that, and another burst of energy, so we'll save that for another day!
